Since it has been declared and announced that the COVID-19 outbreak is a global pandemic, everyone’s world has been rocked. Many of us are having mixed emotions and unsure of what to do: stressed from a decline in financial income, bored from being in the house, couldn’t go to the gym so you stopped working out, anxious, obsessing over all the news and media coverage, so what do you do? Turn to food. Eating has been the one thing, that I’m sure many of you have had no problem doing.
“SNACK HERE, SNACK THERE, HERE A SNACK, THERE A SNACK, EVERYWHERE A SNACK SNACK!”
Your health is important, especially now; now is not the time to lose sight of things and fall off the wagon. Having a healthy and strong immune system is key to fighting viruses that may attack, in addition, so is a strong mind and body. Here are a few tips that can help you survive this pandemic, keep your energy clear, and your body from gaining those “Corona 15” lbs.
- QUIET TIME
Take 10 or 15 minutes and just sneak off to yourself, if you already live by yourself, use those few minutes to eject yourself from the world. Turn off the tv, block out the noise from the kids, silence your phone, and get off social media.
I take my quiet time to focus on clearing my energy, mental thoughts, and relaxing my body. I mediate for about 5 minutes and then spend the remainder of my time praying and having a word with God.
- WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
In order to keep myself from gaining unwanted weight during a time when I can’t be as active as I was, prior to all this, I stay away from the junk food aisle in the grocery store. If it’s not in the pantry at home, I can’t eat it. I buy fruits, veggies, and lean meats, mostly.
- TAKE YOUR VITAMINS
I take a daily multi-vitamin and I have started juicing in order to get my vitamin-C in. (I can’t find any vitamin-C in the stores, but in all honesty, it’s best to get your nutrients from the fruits and veggies you eat vs. a supplement (pill).
- STAY ACTIVE
I’m a gym rat. I love the gym, so with all the gyms being closed it has truly been a challenge for me, however; in an attempt to stay into my daily routine of working out, I have started challenging myself with all sorts of wonderful home workouts. There is also online training or working out outside in your yard.
